production environments. The role focuses on availability, performance, automation, incident resolution and close
collaboration with technical teams based in China.
Key responsibilities
• Operate, maintain and support relational databases, caching platforms and related middleware in cloud and
production environments.
• Monitor database availability, capacity, performance and reliability, and proactively address operational risks.
• Diagnose and resolve database incidents, performance degradation and resource bottlenecks.
• Perform installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, backup, recovery and routine database maintenance.
• Support database releases, migrations and controlled production changes.
• Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, automation and operational procedures for database services.
• Collaborate daily in Mandarin with technical teams in China to implement common database and middleware
management standards.
• Assist application teams with database-related troubleshooting and production releases.
• Improve the utilisation, reliability and cost efficiency of database and application resources.
• Ensure data handling and database operations comply with applicable European data-protection requirements.
• Participate occasionally in an on-call rotation for urgent production incidents.
Requisitos mínimos
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in database administration, database operations or a closely related role.
• Strong practical experience with at least one major relational database, preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with performance analysis, query optimisation, backup, recovery and high-availability arrangements.
• Practical experience with at least one caching technology, such as Redis or Memcached.
• Good working knowledge of Linux and common network protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP/HTTPS.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production database environments.
• Understanding of GDPR and European data-protection requirements.
• Fluent Mandarin Chinese and professional working proficiency in English.
• Ability to work primarily onsite in Madrid, or willingness to relocate there.
